**Get to Know the Role**
As the Head of Engineering for Search and Recommendation, you will report to the Chief Technology Officer and will be responsible for leading the engineering strategy and execution for Grab's search and recommendation services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our engineering efforts align with business objectives and resonate with our diverse customer base.
**The Critical Tasks You Will Perform**
1. **Develop and Implement Engineering Strategies**: Create and execute comprehensive engineering plans that drive innovation in search and recommendation technologies.
2. **Lead and Mentor the Engineering Team**: Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
3. **Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams**: Work closely with product, data science, and operations teams to ensure cohesive and effective engineering solutions.
4. **Analyze Market Trends and Data**: Utilize data and market insights to inform engineering strategies and optimize system performance.
5. **Manage Engineering Budget**: Oversee the engineering budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
**What Essential Skills You Will Need**
1. **Proven Experience in Engineering Leadership**: At least 10 years of experience in engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
2. **Strong Analytical Skills**: Ability to analyze data and market trends to make informed decisions.
3. **Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills**: Strong ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
4. **Creative and Strategic Thinking**: Ability to think creatively and strategically to develop innovative engineering solutions.
5. **Experience in Search and Recommendation Technologies**: Proficiency in search and recommendation systems and tools.
